Attorney Bio

Joshua R. Williams, Attorney at Law

Joshua R. Williams founded the Law Office of Joshua R. Williams to seek justice for people who were harmed by others.

Josh grew up in Oakland, California, and has also lived in New Jersey, Chicago, Milwaukee, Des Moines, and Kansas City.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to enrolling in law school, Josh taught third grade in the Kansas City, Missouri public school system and worked as an Undergraduate Admission Counselor at The University of Iowa. During law school, Josh worked as a law clerk at the Milwaukee headquarters of Gonzalez, Saggio & Harlan, one of the largest minority-owned law firms in the country. Josh graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law, where he served as the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Gender, Race & Justice.

Josh served as a litigation attorney at Fredrikson & Byron, P.A., one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in Minnesota. Josh’s experience at Fredrikson provided him with the resources and expertise he needed to open his own practice in 2009.

Josh met his wife, Micki (who works as a public interest immigration attorney in St. Paul), in law school. They live near Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in the Kingfield neighborhood in South Minneapolis.

Josh has been an active force in the community since moving to the Twin Cities. In July, 2009, the Minneapolis City Council and Mayor Ryback appointed him to serve as a Commissioner on the Minneapolis Commission on Civil Rights. Josh also serves on the board of Restorative Justice Community Action, and is a volunteer attorney for the Volunteer Lawyers Network, the Children’s Law Center of Minnesota, and the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota.

Josh is passionate about promoting justice, fairness, civil rights, and otherwise standing up for people who are not situated to stand up for themselves.
